The Shanghai Pudong New Area National Intellectual Property Protection Demonstration Zone, one of 10 such zones in the country, was awarded its license on Tuesday, according to the Shanghai Intellectual Property Bureau.
Over the next three years, three IP laws and regulations as well as five reform items benchmarked against international IP protection standards will be formulated, the bureau said at a media briefing on Wednesday.
Doing so will help Pudong embark on bolder experiments and make breakthroughs in the IP field, the bureau added.
To better help local innovative enterprises go global and foreign innovative enterprises enter China, the Pudong demonstration zone will establish four IP service centers overseas and improve the guidance system for dispute response overseas.
"Two of the centers overseas will be located in the United States and France. The locations of the other two have yet to be decided," said Gu Huirong, head of the IP protection division of the bureau.
Yu Chen, deputy director of the bureau, said that four overseas IP service stations established by the Shanghai Intellectual Property Bureau are already been in operation. They are located in New York, Dubai, Tokyo, and Madrid. Another station in Munich will be set up within this year.
